It is a five color hand printed impression. The press used to print this image was a Takach lithographic floor press. The compositon of this print alludes to the time when I worked as a high school immigrant. While working in the fields cleaning the cotton plants of weeds I met an interesting man. This farm hand had worked in the fields all his life and he referred to the young kids who worked in the fieds as Pollos. He explained to me that the nickname referred to the tenderness of the young workers' minds and bodies and that it alluded to the governments' agenda to lure young people out of school and into the fields in order to rear them into becoming farm workers who lacked a proper education. These conversations with the old man stayed with me for a long time and now has impacted my art. |
